Dear Friend in Mission,
Our belief in the resurrection of Jesus finds expression in our actions which bring hope, transformation, and new life in the many contexts of our existence throughout the whole of creation.
This Easter, I invite you to contribute to our Easter Gift which will support grassroots mission and ministry initiatives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders through ABM Mission Grants. These grants are overseen by the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglican Council (NATSIAC).
The grants are of enormous value to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clergy and communities, as the Reverend Canon Auntie Di Langham testifies:
“I’ve been the recipient of Mission Grants, and for me, it’s probably the only way that we can get funding to do Indigenous ministries… [With the funding for the campfire ministry of Yinbilikin] we share a meal on the Sunday night so that the kids and the families are fed for the beginning of the week. We then have a service around a campfire.
Yinbillikin has an Indigenous flavour to it, with Indigenous prayers and songs.”
It is through the hands-on work of people like Auntie Di that we can share God’s love with more of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Contributions to our Easter Gift can be made using the donation form included with this letter or online at www.abmission.org/Easter2024.
This Easter, as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, I would ask you to pray for the work of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglican sisters and brothers as they minister among their communities. I would also like to
thank you for your support of the ongoing work of the Anglican Board of Mission.
Christ is risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! May you have a happy and holy Easter.
God bless,
The Rev’d Dr John Deane
Executive Director
Anglican Board of Mission and Anglicans in Developmen
